Wie zijn camperavonturen wil beleven buiten de geasfalteerde wegen, campings en camperplaatsen, komt vanzelf uit bij een 4&#215;4. In dat kleine doch groeiende segment presenteert Sunlight nu een opvallend studiemodel: de IBEX.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Deze conceptcamper, die we op de komende Caravan Salon kunnen bewonderen, is gebouwd op een Volkswagen Crafter met permanente vierwielaandrijving. Voorzien van een verhoogd dak, offroad-upgrades en een uitgekiende indeling, mikt Sunlight met de IBEX op avonturiers die een robuuste en stoere camper zoeken maar niet willen inleveren op comfort.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Techniek en basisvoertuig: VW Crafter<\/h2>\n<p>De Sunlight IBEX rust op het vertrouwde VW Crafter-basisvoertuig met 163 pk sterke dieselmotor en automatische transmissie. Anders dan reguliere buscampers beschikt hij over permanente 4&#215;4-aandrijving, wat hem direct geschikt maakt voor losse ondergrond, modderpistes en bergachtige routes.<\/p>\n<p>De carrosserie is verhoogd, met een eigen ontwikkelde dakconstructie uit glasvezelversterkt kunststof (GfK). Deze is niet alleen bestand tegen hagel en steenslag, maar biedt ook binnen een riante stahoogte van 198 cm. Voor extra terreinpotentie is de IBEX uitgerust met een liftkit, bull-bar, beadlock-velgen met grof profiel, een snorkel en een achterdrager met ladder en reservewiel. concept, toont de camper een verrassend productierijpe indeling. Een compacte zitgroep, keukenblok met kookplaat en koelkast, een natte cel en een dwarsbed achterin zorgen voor een bekende, maar praktische indeling. Opvallend zijn de warme aardetinten en natuurlijke materialen die bijdragen aan een huiselijke sfeer, zelfs in een voertuig dat bedoeld is voor ruwe omstandigheden.<\/p>\n<p>Over de technische installaties is nog weinig concreets bekend. Maar gezien het DNA van eerdere Sunlight Adventure-modellen ligt het voor de hand dat de IBEX is voorbereid op off-grid-gebruik. stap voorwaarts in Sunlights portfolio. Waar het merk met de Cliff 4&#215;4 Adventure vooral inspeelt op avontuurlijke buscampers op Ford-basis, tilt de IBEX het concept naar een hoger plan met het grotere Crafter-platform en een meer uitgesproken offroad-uitrusting.<\/p>\n<p>Binnen de Europese markt concurreert de IBEX straks mogelijk met modellen als de Hymer Grand Canyon S 4&#215;4, Adria Twin Sports 640 SGX 4&#215;4 en nichebouwers zoals Affinity of Custom Bus. Sunlight onderscheidt zich daarbij door het combineren van serieproductie met modulaire aanpassingen voor terreinrijders.<\/p>\n<h2>Praktische bruikbaarheid onder uiteenlopende omstandigheden<\/h2>\n<p>De terreinpotentie van de IBEX komt niet alleen van de aandrijving. Dankzij doordachte keuzes in bouw en uitrusting mikt Sunlight ook op duurzaamheid en comfort in wisselende omstandigheden. De verhoogde bodemvrijheid en stevige carrosserie maken hem geschikt voor ruige routes, terwijl de verhoogde daklijn en isolerende materialen bijdragen aan het binnencomfort.<\/p>\n<p>Een compactere wielbasis en scherpe stuuruitslag maken het manoeuvreren verrassend eenvoudig, zelfs voor een bus van dit formaat. Met de juiste afstemming tussen productie, prijs en uitrusting zou deze 4&#215;4-buscamper weleens populair model kunnen worden, ook al is de \u2018Europese offroad vanlife\u2019 doelgroep maar beperkt.<\/p>\n<p>Sunlight positioneert de IBEX nadrukkelijk als concept, maar gebruikt daarbij termen als &#8220;near production&#8221; en toont het model actief op beurzen en online platforms. De kans is groot dat op de Caravan Salon in D\u00fcsseldorf meer duidelijk wordt over serieproductie, levertermijnen en prijsstelling.<\/p>\n<p>Verwacht wordt dat de IBEX zich qua prijs boven de huidige Cliff Adventure-modellen zal positioneren, maar onder die van de exclusieve bouwers blijft.
