Uit de compacte opbouw verschijnen opeens allemaal slide-outs en andere uitklapbare zaken die de Whale Trailer Cabin misschien twee keer zo groot maken. De Whale Trailer Cabin won dan ook niet voor niets een Red Dot Design Award.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Opvallend is een understatement<\/h2>\n<p>Misschien is alleen al de gladde, gestroomlijnde carrosserie met een afgeronde neus en welvingen die aan vinnen doen denken, een design award waard. De opvallende blauw\/witte kleurencombinatie maakt het geheel nog opvallender. De Chinese designer Hu Yong wist een unieke, oogstrelende carrosserie te ontwerpen die heel wat bekijks zal trekken. Als er een kampeertrailer is die je achter een futuristische (elektrische) auto zou zetten, dan is het deze wel.<\/p>\n<h2>Lijkt op een walvis<\/h2>\n<p>Maar dat is alleen het uiterlijk. In de \u2018kampeerstand\u2019 komen er uit de opbouw een grote slide-out, een hefdak en een paar grote openslaande kleppen tevoorschijn. Door het openen van het grote hefdak krijg je meer hoofdruimte. Via de zijdeur komt er een uittrekbare keuken tevoorschijn, compleet met koelkast en magnetron, naar buiten. De slaapruimte, die een eigen hefdakje heeft, is aan het uiteinde voorzien een grote klep voor een overdaad aan frisse lucht. En met die klep opengeklapt, doet de Whale Trailer Cabin denken aan een walvis met zijn staart omhoog.<\/p>\n<h2>Red Dot Design Award<\/h2>\n<p>De Whale Trailer is slechts een conceptvoertuig dus het is twijfelachtig of het Whale Trailer Cabin-concept ooit werkelijkheid zal worden. Maar het idee is intrigerend en wie weet zien we enkele elementen uit de Whale Trailer Cabin wel terug in toekomstige ontwerpen.
